St. Ambrose Wine Festival Raises $2 million for student scholarships

06/04/2024

St. Ambrose University's Wine Festival surpassed the $2 million threshold in cumulative giving through its 2024 event. This annual three-part series, which began in 2001, raises money to support scholarships for students at St. Ambrose. In the fall of 2023, 100 percent of first-year students were awarded institutional aid.

This remarkable achievement was made possible by generous Wine Festival sponsors, individual donors, and event attendees.

"At St. Ambrose, we are dedicated to keeping the college experience affordable and accessible," said 2024 Wine Festival Chairs Ed and Molly Carroll. "The Wine Festival is a terrific event to raise student scholarship funds and bring the community together on the campus of St. Ambrose."

Support from Kathy and Dimitri Papageorgiou of Dimitri Wine and Spirits has been instrumental in the success of the Wine Festival over its 23-year history. Dimitri Wine and Spirits is celebrating its 40th year in business and has provided generous support for the event since the beginning.

"Our special thanks to Dimitri Papageorgiou whose generosity year after year makes the Wine Festival such a success, and alumnus Decker Ploehn for his outstanding contribution as the Wine Festival Preview Dinner Master of Ceremonies," the Carrolls said. "Thanks to all of the sponsors, donors, event attendees, and volunteers throughout the years who each played a part in making this success possible. "

Plans for the 2025 Wine Festival will be announced later this month.
